bye bye blog

well, its been an interesting trip down web 2.0. i have learned about a lot of things that i didnt know about and learned more about some things i did know about. i never thought i would have a blog and i dont think i would if i werent obligatory but it was lots of fun. so long!

shelf thing

so i do use shelfari and i discovered it because someone from the web 2.0 committee mentioned it and i decided to check it out. i do like it for the little shelf you get to select and choose what books you display whether youve read them plan on reading them or they are favorites etc. it is definitely fun. otherwise i dont really use it. i tried following a couple of discussions but didnt really follow them very well. needless to say having the bookshelf widgit on my blog is pretty sweet (:

music nonstop techno pop

soooooooo i already have a pandora account since im not sure when...i tried to see if it has info on when i signed up for my membership but i couldnt find anything. its been at least four years. anyway...its been a long time and i do like it a lot. i will not say i love it because i do not like the fact that you can only skip a certain number of songs before you are forced to listen to whatever they choose, but i have the free account so its not that surprising. also, sometimes they play the same song way too frequently but you also have to option of "dont play for a month" and things like that. otherwise i think its great and i have discovered a lot of new music i like and also a lot that i dont like. i just discovered the quick mix and that it awesome. you can select whichever of your stations that you want to and its like a shuffle...for a bit more added variety.

fun photos

i thoroughly enjoyed this weeks activities with creating fun effects on photos. my favorite website was "befunky." first of all i love the fact that you dont have to have an account set up in order to use it. that is fantastic! secondly, it is very very easy to use. it is set up nice and clean and simple. wonderful! i also liked all the options for the effects it gives you. i will definitely use this website in the future to spruce of some pictures for fun. as you can see above is one of me "warholized."

organization

so the idea or i guess bounty of all these tools available for organization online are great. however i doubt i will use them. the only time i am really connected online is while im at work. i do surf or otherwise while at home, but rarely. as far as getting my life organized it is something i need to do, a pending goal of mine, but i dont think using these tools will benefit me as i am not always connected through a phone or blackberry like many of us these days. for me a list on paper and paper calendar still work just fine. i feel they are easy to use and portable enough for what i need.

tagging

so tagging is a pretty cool idea, but i dont realistically think ill use it for anything. i have bookmarks on my computer at home and i dont even use those ever, so i cant see why i would venture into setting up a tagging website or account. however, it seems like it would be something useful for people who use the internet for various things like work or organizing things or whatever it may be.im sure it could be useful for the library to share popular websites for the reference desk etc.
