twitter part 2
so, i was looking around twitter today and found a couple more friends, people i actually know in real life, and added them. i dont know how much i will be updating my little one liners or looking at others. it seems very much like the facebook updates that show up when you log on to facebook. so whats the point in having two of those? anyway, i also read the nyt article on twitter/facebook. it has a very interesting perspective on the function of these tools. never thought of it that way...makes you think...

pods!
well here we are in the world of pods...i have heard the term over and over but i wasnt quite sure what it was. i imagined it as a sort of radio show online, so i guess i was right except that i didnt know that video could be a podcast as well. it is a pretty cool tool. i found some cool stuff for which i wouldnt normally look around, but nonetheless. there is a wine podcasts which is cool, except the host is a nut(just a little obnoxious) and i havent listened to npr in so long so its great that they have that available. however, i dont think i will use podcast very much. i dont know that i would have time to sit down and listen or watch any. i barely have time to read a book or watch a movie so im not sure i will be subscribing to any of these in the near future. As far as the library goes i think it would be appealing to some of the public. perhaps they could have storytime or book clubs as podcasts. i would imagine since you have to download these podcasts you would need sufficient memory on your computer. that is a downside in my opinion because i dont have much room for anything else in the memory department of my computer, so i can see that it might be a deterrent to some. and is it possible to have tv shows as podcasts? it seems this way from the info posted on the information given regarding podcasts. and again like i said before another downside would be to have to make another account to keep these podcasts; you have to subscribe to them somehow...a little much for me.

feedings
so i added three rss feeds to my sidebar. i did not create a new account specifically for it since i dont think i will use it outside of this project. also the thing about having one more account. not happening.
rss continued
so i think that rss will not be useful to me personally as i dont spend very much time on the computer unless im at work. i dont really surf that much. i think rss is interesting and a bit confusing. it just seems to me like i would just go to the website in the same amount of time that i am going to read the rss and be clicking on those. i feel like the rss is just the headlines, like a brief summary. is this correct? arent you just going to end up at the website when you click on a topic? i suppose it might be useful at work to give employees brief updates but that could be done in twitter as well. it can be useful to patrons on the library website to see what is new on the site if they prefer to receive the info through rss instead of just going to the website.
so its called twitter not tweeter. my mistake. anyway, i noticed in the picture of the bobby day album there is a parrot an owl and a bluejay and some other bird, but i dont think there is a robin anywhere there. weird...
tweet

so while i was thinking about tweeter or whatever its called the "rockin' robin" song popped into my head. all this time i thought the lyrics said "huffin and a puffin and a singing that song" even though that doesnt really make sense but you know how youll make up lyrics if youre not sure what theyre saying. so the real verse is "hoppin and a boppin" i guess it makes more sense for a bird to hop and bop as opposed to huffing and puffing. so anyway, here are the lyrics:
(Tweedle-lee-dee-dee-dee, tweedle-lee-dee-dee x 3)
(Tweet x 4)
He rocks in the tree tops all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing his song
All the little birds on Jaybird StreetLove to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet
Rockin' robin (Tweet x 3)
Rockin' robin (Tweet, tweedle-lee-dee)
Go rockin' robin'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight
(Tweet, tweedle-lee-dee)
Every little swallow, every chick-a-dee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flappin' their wings singing go bird go
Rockin' robin (Tweet x 3)
Rockin' robin (Tweet, tweedle-lee-dee)
Go rockin' robin'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight
(Tweet, tweedle-lee-dee)
A pretty little raven at the bird fence dance
Taught him how to do the boppin', it was grand
They started going steady and bless my soul
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole
He rocks in the tree top all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing his song
All the little birds on Jaybird Street
Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet
Rockin' robin (Tweet x 3)
Rockin' robin (Tweet, tweedle-lee-dee)
Go rockin' robin'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight
(Tweet, tweedle-lee-dee)
Well, a pretty little raven at the bird-bath stand
Taught him how to do the boppin', it was grand
He started going steady and bless my soul
He out-bopped the Buzzard and the Oriole
He rocks in the tree top all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing his song
All the little birds on Jaybird StreetLove to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet

rsssssssssssssssssssssss
this image reminded me of andy warhol one of my favorite artist but only after i learned a little bit about his life before that i just thought he was a con. so the r.s.s. lets see i was a little intimidated at first as i have never heard of r.s.s. before and therefore assumed it would be overwhelming since i knew nothing of it. however, after the video and a bit of browsing on the suggested r.s.s. pages like people and the new york times i understand what they are and it seems very convenient however i dont think that i would subscribe to any for my personal use. i feel like i dont spend very much time on the internet browsing unless im searching for something specific. plus i hate the idea of having one more account and one more password. enough with that. it does, however, seem like a very easy way to spend some idle time. im sure i would have no clue what it was for a long time if not forever if it werent for the 2.0 training. i dont really keep up with tech things as often or as well as the average youngster.
